"The blessing of all valkyries will always be with you." -Sigrun
God of War (2018) brings back memories. It took our entire friend group to complete this side quest. For those unfamiliar with this side quest, the Valkyries were cursed by Odin and had fallen into madness. Kratos discovered that killing one freed them. Naturally, the task continued to free the remaining Valkyrie. The game has nine Valkyrie; you will see 5 of the 9 in this set, with the remaining 4 to join them.
"Eir, The Healer" Measurements: 24 in wide x 36 in tall x 3/4 in deep ( 60.94 cm wide x 91.44 cm tall x 1.9 cm deep) Medium: Acrylic on Canvas Eir is not discussed in great detail; however, Eir is listed as one of nine who aid giantess Menglod. Little is known about Eir's lineage, but she could have been a human or Aesir handmaiden to a giantess or may even have some jotunn lineage. Eir in Old Norse means "mercy" or "help." With her remarkable powers of medicine and midwifery, she is noted as the group's healer. Some folklore sources place Eir in healing ceremonies for the welfare of women and childbirth.
"Gondul, The Magician" Measurements: 24 in wide x 36 in tall x 3/4 in deep ( 60.94 cm wide x 91.44 cm tall x 1.9 cm deep) Medium: Acrylic on Canvas In Heimskrigla, Gondul is described as being sent with Skogul to "choose among the kings' kinsmen." Her methods were more seductive and persuasive. She is also mentioned as using her beauty to bring allies to Odin's side. Gondul in Old Norse translates to "wand-wielder."

Gunnr, Rota, and Skuld -the young norn- are considered Odin's Valkyries. Gunnr in Old Norse translates to "battle."

"Arise too, Ruta, and show your snow-pale head, come forth from hiding and issue into battle. The outdoor carnage beckons you; fighting now shakes the courts, harsh strife batters the gates." Gunnr, Rota, and Skuld -the young norn- are considered Odin's Valkyries. Rota in Old Norse translates to "snow and sleet."
"Sigrun, The Valkyrie Queen" Measurements: 24 in wide x 36 in tall x 3/4 in deep ( 60.94 cm wide x 91.44 cm tall x 1.9 cm deep) Medium: Acrylic on Canvas In the Poetic Edda in Helgakvioa Hundingsbana 1 and 2, Sigrun is seen leading a band of nine Valkyries into battle. This is when she meets Helgi Hundingsbane and falls in love. However, Sigrun's father, Hogni, had already promised her to Hodbroddr, the son of King Granmarr. Halgi invades Granmarr's kingdom. Helgi spared Dagr, Sigrun's brother, which backfired. Dagr is given a spear by Odin and kills Helgi in Fjoturland. Sigrun cursed Dagr to live on carrion in the woods. There is so much tragedy for such a powerful fighter.
